IGWE-ELECT OF AKAMA PEOPLE ON THE NEW YAM FESTIVAL (IWAJI/ HIGHMAS) 2024

Beloved people of Akama Ogwugwu Ebenebe

I want to use this opportunity to reiterate that this occasion is not just a time to enjoy the blessings and bountiful harvest of Iwaji/ Highmas, but also a chance to reflect on our unity, strength, and the blessings that have been bestowed upon us by the Almighty GOD, the God of our ancestors throughout the year.

The Iwaji/ Highmas is a unique festival that reminds us every year of the hard work and dedication of the farmers who till the land and provide for our community. Last year’s Iwaji/ Highmas was a success.

Today, we honor their efforts and celebrate the fruits of their labor.

We also use this occasion to honor two of our illustrious sons, brothers, and friends, in the persons of Hon. Sunday Syracuse Umeha, representing the good people of Udi/Ezeagu Federal constituencies, and Rt. Hon Chima Emmanuel Obieze, also representing us at the State House of Assembly. We are blessed to have these two, representing us simultaneously, at the different levels of government. We are proud of them both and believe that having them at the helm of affairs at these levels of government will birth the emergence of a greater Akama.

As we come together in celebration, May we also use this opportunity to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, support each other, and continue to build a prosperous and peaceful community for all of us.

May the spirit of this year’s Iwaji / Highmas festival bring us closer, even more to our cultural heritage and reinforce our commitment to the preservation of our traditions. That is what makes us who we are.

May our ancestors guide and protect us all in the coming year, and may the land of Akama continue to yield its blessings.

I wish you all a joyful and peaceful celebration.

Long live Akama Ogwugwu Ebenebe!

(Akuewebe 1).
