Techup Africa launches TAMP 2024 to empower 1,000 young Africans with tech skills through scholarship


TechUp Africa, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young Africans to start, thrive, and succeed in tech careers, proudly announces the launch of the 2024 edition of its flagship initiative, the TechUp Africa Mentorship Program (TAMP). TechUp Africa in partnership with Junior Chamber International, Scrimba, and DataCamp is empowering 1,000 beneficiaries with scholarships, mentoring, and community support, helping them embark on successful tech careers.

The TechUp Africa Mentorship Program (TAMP) is designed to equip 1,000 young Africans with the skills and mentorship needed to excel in the tech industry with focus on high-demand skills including Data Analysis, Data Science, Data Engineering, AI Engineering, and Front-end Development. This initiative is a 6-month training program where participants would undergo comprehensive training to gain practical knowledge and skills in these high-demand skills, participate in weekly and monthly mentorship sessions, industry network with mentors and peers as well as earn certificates at the end of the program.

According to TechUp Africa Founder, Oluwaseyi-Kehinde Peters, the TAMP is born out of the need to address the skills gap and unemployment issues facing young Africans by providing access to education through ed-tech initiatives, mentorship, and a supportive community.

With representation from 54 African countries, the TechUp Africa Mentorship Program (TAMP) is made possible through the support of our partners: Scrimba and DataCamp who ensures that participants receive high-quality training and resources, positioning them for success and gaining employment in the tech industry.

Launched January 2022, TechUp Africa has grown into a thriving community of over 3000 aspiring and current tech professionals who are committed to developing themselves as the next generation of African tech leaders. Our programs, scholarships and training are designed to help young Africans build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in tech, and to connect them with opportunities that can help them reach their full potential.
