Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the signing of Dário Essugo from Sporting CP making him their first player signing of the June 2025 transfer window.
The highly rated midfielder, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Las Palmas in La Liga, has signed a long-term contract with the Blues that runs until 2033.
Essugo is also a Portugal Under-21 international and widely regarded as one of the brightest young talents in his country.
The 19-year-old rose through the ranks at Sporting’s academy and made headlines in March 2021 when he became the youngest-ever player to appear for the club’s senior team, debuting at just 16 years and six days old against Vitoria de Guimaraes.
Essugo’s arrival adds depth and youth to Chelsea’s midfield as the club continues its strategy of investing in emerging talent.
